Impact
Impact that goes beyond the event.
Since 2017, ESD has measured impact not only in event days, but in what sport, education, culture and solidarity set in motion over time.
In figures
A scale you can see on the ground.
Across the editions, Ouidah Cup brings together academies from multiple territories, hosts delegations in Ouidah and draws a real public audience throughout the tournament.
16 academies
Mobilised around the tournament and brought together within one shared sporting momentum.
25 people per team
Each delegation is welcomed and accommodated in Ouidah throughout the competition.
Benin, Togo, Nigeria
Teams have already come from the north to the south of Benin, as well as from Togo and Nigeria.
4th edition
The trophy was won by Togo, showing the regional reach of the tournament.
Champion from Djougou
The current winner of the 5th edition comes from Djougou, reflecting the national scale of the project.
6,000 to 12,000 spectators
Per match, across a full month of football energy in Ouidah.
Goal
Make impact readable, credible and actionable.
This page helps explain what the programs produce for young people, families, local structures and committed partners, well beyond the tournament itself.
Confidence
Visible frameworks that give young people more confidence and direction.
Visibility
A stage for academies, local actors and committed partners.
Transmission
A clear articulation between today’s youth and tomorrow’s heritage.
Beyond the tournament
Each edition also extends into support for school and childhood.
Every year, at the end of the edition and before the new school term begins, ESD turns the momentum of the tournament into a concrete solidarity action for children and families.
500+ school kits
At least 500 primary pupils receive school kits before classes resume.
Visible continuity
The impact does not stop at the field. It also supports the school return and gives the edition a concrete social extension.
Donations to orphanages
ESD also brings donations to orphanages so that solidarity reaches children in the most vulnerable situations.
On the ground
School kits reach children directly.
The end of the edition extends into a concrete presence with pupils and families on site.
Kits prepared
Bags assembled before school returns.
The support is organised upstream so it becomes useful exactly when classes begin again.
Real reach
A visible action at meaningful scale.
The distribution reaches many children and gives the tournament a tangible social continuation.
